This means if you are willing to approach a situation with an open mind and a bit of self-confidence in yourself, you are going to be much more likely to succeed than someone who approaches with attitude or just lack of self-confidence. You could use the same principles in a game of tennis where things may look rather complicated in the beginning. Chances are that you would fail, if you do not approach the game with self confidence. Your personal approach is critical in ensuring your ultimate performance and success in the game.

As you approach the game keep an open mind. Any half hearted attempt would only take you further from success. Chances of success increase when you approach with a positive attitude regardless of your experience in the game. Nobody can play a good game if he or she is in a bad mood, whereas someone with a positive mental attitude can really play a good game.

Just take mistakes as part of your lessons for future. If you find that the mistakes are concentrated mainly on your sense of timing of moving the racquet, think of how you can improve on your timing. Your approach towards the game would improve if you take every mistake as opportunities for growth and improvement. Even the best tennis players make mistakes, play badly and wish to quit the court so this can bring any consolation to you.

This applies to any hobby, sport, job or activity. If you do nothing but play tennis every waking moment that you are awake, you are going to be running straight into a burn out in no time at all. For example shopping, hanging out with friends, sit lazy and watch the TV. These help you to approach tennis with a new mind. The time that you spend away from the court in these circumstances can be just as valuable as the time you spend on the court.

It is worthwhile to remember that each player plays the game according to his own style. While it is perfectly alright to take coach advice, you also need to do what suits you most. For instance, your racquet, shoes and kit. Your skill would get developed naturally if you devote adequate time to develop your own style. Though emulation is the height of admiration, never emulate another player not oven your coach.
